In 2018, the first Steno-injection machine, designated Si2, came onto the market. With this machine, Steno-injection found its way into European conservation workshops, allowing hundreds of objects of various kinds to be restored. From delicate detailed items to large structures, the Si2 was fully deployed. Thanks to our customers, we gained valuable experience, based on which the successor model, the Si3, has now been developed. The Si3 adopts the concept of the Si2, so at first glance, few differences can be seen. However, a lot has changed:
The Si3 features a new hydraulic system concept. It dispenses with rotating parts moving outside the housing and keeps all mechanical components running inside the housing in an oil bath. The new system operates smoother and quieter. Both machines allow you to adjust the maximum injection pressure. The mechanical system of the Si2 shuts off at the highest setting between approximately 600 and 800 bar, whereas the hydraulic system of the Si3 shuts off at exactly 800 bar. In practice, this means noticeably higher performance at the same maximum pressure. The maximum pressure can be adjusted in increments. The new system operates with permanent overpressure, preventing air ingress. With the Si2, venting is required if necessary. The frame of the machine has also been redesigned. Several details have been made more precise, more durable, and lighter. With its 7 kg, the Si3 weighs 1 kg less than the Si2.2. The redesigned heating box features a high-quality control panel and an electronic, acoustic-visual overpressure and oil level notification. The machine continues to operate with a Makita 18V battery system. The Makita DDF486 serves as the drive unit.
Servo trigger for Si3 and Si2.3
An electronic servo trigger enables precise operation of the machine via a lever on the pen. Operation via the foot pedal remains fully functional.

Si2.3
The Si2.3 is an improved version of the Si2.2. Many areas of the design have been optimized for better handling and durability. The current Makita DDF 489 cordless drill serves as the drive unit. Overall, the machine is 0.5 kg lighter than the previous model.

FAQ
Is Steno-injection suitable for my workshop?
Steno-injection was primarily developed for wood restoration. However, it is suitable for all industries where precise injection of viscous materials is required. Read through our website and ask us if needed. We are open to new areas of application and research projects.
Where can I see the Steno-injection machine?
We will gladly visit you as soon as we are in your area. You can also rent the machine on a trial basis.
How high are the operating costs for Steno-injection?
The operating costs are manageable. The most important consumable item is the special injection cannulas. One cannula currently costs €3. Particularly when working with thin cannulas, great care must be taken so that they do not get bent. However, a certain amount of loss cannot be avoided during work.
After about five years, a service appointment is recommended to replace all seals and inspect the machine.
Does the machine's hydraulic system require special maintenance?
As with any hydraulic system, some maintenance time is to be expected with the injection machine. The hydraulic oil should be changed once a year. The oil change can be carried out within 10–20 minutes and is described step-by-step in the operating manual. If the machine stands idle for several weeks, air may enter the hydraulic system through the seals. The bleeding procedure is identical to the oil change. After about five years, all seals should be replaced by our service team.
Which materials can be injected?
The Steno-injection machine is primarily intended for use with glutin-glue-based mixtures. Nevertheless, it enables the injection of a whole range of other physically as well as chemically curing binders. However, the use of non-aqueous or chemically curing binders is not covered by our warranty.
